Program

The Working on Walls Training Program included:

  • Courses and Workshops: Formal training in specific new technologies was provided for WoW students at UBC through new course offerings and workshops.  These were offered by WoW faculty, post-doctoral fellows and discipline experts in order to provide WoW trainees with new technical and professional skills training.
  • Placements and Exchanges:  WoW trainees were encouraged to carry out part of their research at one of our collaborating institutions.  WoW trainees also had the chance to gain research experience in industrial or government labs (FPI-PAPRICAN, Alberta Research Council), where scientists focus on applied and goal-oriented aspects of plant cell wall research.

In addition to participating in relevant international scientific conferences, our trainees helped organize an international student workshop and conference every two years, specifically aimed at plant cell wall biology trainees from Canada and abroad. See WoW Symposia.
